Thure L. Kumlien papers, 1843-1973 (bulk 1843-1920).

Letters to Thure L. Kumlien, a naturalist from Busseyville and Albion, Wisconsin, from American and European naturalists, with drafts of his replies; his work journal, written in Swedish and accompanied by a typewritten English translation; a manuscript containing ornithological observations, dated 1869; genealogical data on the Kumlien family; and manuscript songs and poems. Additional letters from Edward L. Greene, Company K, 13th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry and later teacher and pastor at Denver and Greeley, Colorado, include Greene's descriptions of his botanical activities and his association with Asa Gray and other prominent botanists. Filed with these are a few letters from Greene to Kumlien's son Ludwig, from Ludwig to his parents, and other letters.
